That could change, however, if they reach out to me with a request. I'm reading that chances are good for money to be budgeted for technology upgrades in the state legislature this year. I hope it occurs because tracking fraud seems impossible with the systems they are currently using.
If the office holder must run against any opponent, can they be considered truly independent? Candidates for any contested election seem to end up “owing” someone or some group. The money needs to be removed from elections for anything close to independent could be claimed.
It might be time to require basic skills to hold elected office, business, finance, compliance, computers. Officers of corporations have to sign off on budgets, statements and certain expenditures each year, perhaps our elected officials should as well. Then they could be fined, prosecuted or banned if work was corrupt. Nepotism and cronyism are alive and well in government but instead of looking at them the DSA has us looking at the evil business owners. Why not upgrade and merge our systems? The answer is simple, corruption, theft, fraud. Everything we are currently suffering from. The cost will be high but probably less expensive than the fraud. There is something to be said for having skills along with knowing when to seek help elsewhere for the knowledge one lacks. I think we could all do with less partisanship when it comes to the running of government. It should be more limited in operations as who is in power since most systems will continue regardless.
Hopefully this candidate is winning HIS fight...in order to carry on THE fight for the good people of MN.
