As I person who likely could probably historically be described as a Clinton Democrat, I hear you! Lately I have been feeling more like a JFK Democrat 😉
“Laments erosion of compromise in current council, rise of ideological rigidity.”
I’ve always envisioned myself being fiscally moderate and socially liberal. The last couple years have been jaw-dropping for me, as I watch myself being outflanked on the left. I wonder if Jenkins feels similarly. While I don’t want what the now-mainstream Republicans are selling, I’m not interested in what the liberal wing of the city council is selling either.
It is great hearing Andrea Jenkins's perspective on 38th and Chicago. Nice reminder that Chicago avenue is a major thoroughfare that needs to have transportation flowing through the intersection. Very pragmatic view that they have. The comparison to what happens when a road gets cut off like Nicolette Ave. Straight from Andrea saying that a pedestrian Mall is not a practical solution for this intersection. I wish fellow council members would listen .
Good interview. Thanks for bringing up Guaranteed Basic Income. This topic needs to be discussed more often as being part of the solution to end poverty, homelessness, city-wide crime, and to lift everyone up...
