Well, since the podcast starts with the topic of gun control, I guess I'll start there. This is going to be an unpopular take, but what the Republicans should probably do from a political standpoint is start from Their position of the second Amendment is not negotiable.

But then let it be known that if some of their agenda could be put forward, they would be amenable to some kind of vote.

So if the Democrats want to ban "assault weapons" than the Republicans will say sure we'll do that, but we need to figure out a way to approve one armed guard for every school. Or something like that.

And then if the Democrats want to ban some kind of magazine they deem to be "high capacity" than the Republicans could say sure we'll do that, but we getmetal detectors and or unobtrusive new forms of security at all schools.

Then at the Democrats say we want enhanced gun storage, the Republicans say okay, but that means we're going to fund and implement behavioral threat assessments at all schools.

And then the Democrats say well. ... We want some new form of extra Background checks The Republicans could say oh okay and that means we're going to have some new funding for mental health resources.

I know I'm oversimplifying this. But basically if the Democrats think they're going to get all the Republicans needed for votes on board for whatever their gun control agenda is..... It's going to have to come with the "price" of some sort.

Like I said, this is going to be a unpopular take.

It sounds like Whiting is getting his footing. When he first tossed his hat in the ring, I checked out his website. It was 0% policy, 100% identity politics. I hope he continues the shift.
