Thank you Terry. I watched parts of the Committee of the Whole meeting as well. It was frustrating with all of the performative theatrics.
And yes, Vetaw was the voice of reason as far as reminding all that the city of Minneapolis cannot control what the Federal government does. Plus I liked how Palminsano tried to tease out some separation of council members and staff being at the federal raid as a city employee versus present there on their own time as an civilian activist

Seems to me that activists lack the skills for effective governance. Rather like the person who sees only the knothole in a tree, but fails to recognize there are other knotholes, the tree is part of the forest and so on. Activists often fail to see, or care, about the bigger picture and focus only on their narrow interests. Mpls will not thrive with a DSA activist majority on the council.
Sad state of affairs on the City Council. With this group of CMs, which we used to call the Wonsley 5, now more like the Wonsley 7, they are ALWAYS looking for ways to denigrate Frey, our City staff, and the MPD, and use the time and resources, that we PAY for, to gin up their base, regardless of how far away they get from the job description, as they further neglect their responsibilities.
The idea that we PAY in excess of 1/4 of million dollars per seat, including the cost of their aides, benefits, adds on, etc, as we are now entering a very challenging fiscal period for the City, makes ALL of their activities especially difficult to tolerate. The only solution to this predicament is the necessary clap back at our City elections this fall.
Right on. My husband and I are not sure how much longer we want to pay for this kind of terrible governance. And we are people who happily paid our fair share in the past.
Also, what was up with a couple council members throwing shade at others? For example I forget if it was CM Chughtai or Chowdry, but they were clearing letting others know they should have ALL been physically present at the raid. I was glad Vetaw pushed back in this. I could be wrong, but I really doubt there is anything in the job description of a CM to go to a federal raid in person.
Some of the council staff were clearly interfering with the agents, as shown by the photo making the rounds showing Jeremiah Ellison’s aide being physically restrained.
