Social media often seems like a virus, pushing negativity forward at every opportunity because it feeds growth. Blind faith loyalty to a specific party allows easy indoctrination and rejection of opposing views/facts. At this point, I will never vote for a candidate of either party who does not behave in a civil and genuine manner. I'll also remember to thank my council member when he votes appropriately since I believe the power of positive reinforcement still makes a difference.
This is very interesting. The last time you wrote on this topic I commented that it seemed a little thin to criticize social media as different in kind from other media. I appreciate this interview adds some more heft to the argument.
Interesting topic. I have believed that bias in the main stream news media has been a big issue for a long time but I also believe that our perception of what we want to see is just as big of an issue. Too many have decided the truth is prior to turning it on.
The problem is until Musk bought what is now called X, the Republicans were very nearly silenced. People are still not used to hearing an opposing point of view, to the point that they can't help but continually disparage them. The Republicans have a right to be angry. What I don't understand is how it look so long for the news media to report the lack of compression of Biden, they even thru Phillips under the bus for pointing it out, ending his career. I kind of wonder about Dayton as well, he did not s seem all there in his last term but it's like all the news feeds decided not to talk about it. Now that we have a president that does have his faculties, the news can't stop reporting on a possible article 25.
You discussed some of the news feeds now being influenced by money and power due to new ownership but I see it as a return to center, we just have been far left so long we can't see it. The far left is so good at pulling heart strings and pointing out the evil Republicans, that people stopped seeing that there are a lot of untruths there.
