I agree that community building is important. Peggy was EVERYWHERE. But, this did present a disadvantage to Craig. She had to stay in Washington and do her job as a House Representative. She did not have the luxury of lots of time on her hands to travel around the state.
What does this mean for future elections. For people who have full-time jobs and can not go to everything, everywhere, all the time...
Thomas Friedman wrote an insightful column yesterday. AIPAC has gone off the deep end with Netanyahu and the Israeli right. It might be more toxic these days than ICE.
Spot on Terry. Bottom up community building campaigns are the ticket. Most constituents want to "know" their representatives. Or at least believe they are accessible.
Nice job of explaining why Flanagan won, using anti Trump, ICE, and Israel messaging, which apparently is the winning strategy for democrats. As an Independent, I will be voting for a candidate who offers solutions to bring down the cost of living, lower crime/fraud levels, and focuses on effective fiscal management. Peggy has a long way to go to convince me that she shares my values.
Must say, I'll a little surprised by this comment: As Republicans have shown again and again, there's no bottom to how low they'll go. Are you kidding me? We've seen Democrats go lower that that! The Russian hoax was pure fabrication, and the Main Stream Media were complacent in it! And that's just one example.
So was anyone running the state while Waltz was running for VP followed by his tour with AOC to spew hate and lies against the republican party? Is she exempt because she was not the actual governor, just the governor while he is not here?
Why is no one looking at why the "Democratic" party would rather lose a seat in the house and senate than retain the seats with candidates who have real power.
The Craig/Flanagan race was an ugly one and I'm pretty sure in actual election Craig would have won. The DSA has become pretty adept at manipulating the primaries by strongly encouraging it's believers to show up knowing that too many trust the previous process to pick those with skills and political alignment.
Am I hearing this right? Craig lost because of AIPAC money? Where exactly did Flanagan's money come from? Are we becoming an antisemitic state? Have we really stopped liking our best, most loyal ally? Many draw the line on "Trump" but maybe we should be looking at this, who will we start hating next? Hate begets hate, it taints everything it touches. So why is the DSA, or rather the new Democratic party encouraging it.
